In November 1996, Langley historian
John Kendrick received a letter from Fred Mills (then living in Canada) who
told him he'd taken a silent 8mm cine film while at Langley aerodrome in the
1940s. The film contains shots of various BSAA aircraft including Avro
Lancastrians Star Light and Star Trail, and Avro York Star
Gleam. Knowing my interest in BSAA, John kindly lent the film to me. |

Please be warned, this film is 8mb in size, so
may take a while to download for viewing. |

It also
contains some shots of Avro Tudors belonging to Airflight (G-AGRY) and BOAC
(G-AGRF Elizabeth of England), probably taken at Blackbushe and
Heathrow. Although not BSAA, these shots have been retained in this version
for interest. Most importantly, there are several shots of BSAA engineering
staff at Langley. As would be expected, the quality of film is variable, but
if anyone viewing this recognises any of the people shown, we would love to
hear from you! |
